ABOUT THE EVENT

Join Adele Cygelman (author of “Arthur Elrod: Desert Modern Design”) and Preservation Mirage on Saturday, November 22 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM for an unforgettable evening of hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and a tour of two magnificent Tamarisk properties. Be among the first to support “Arthur Elrod: Desert Cool,” a groundbreaking documentary by Adele Cygelman and cinematographer Alan Kraemer, which will premiere during Modernism Week in February 2026.

Arthur Elrod epitomized sophisticated desert style. He was charismatic and charming. His custom work was fresh and innovative. His own home on Southridge Drive, designed in collaboration with architect John Lautner, was immortalized in “Diamonds Are Forever” and remains his gift to the city that he called home.

Architect Steven Harris and interior designer Lucien Rees Roberts are opening the doors to two truly incredible homes for this event. Both residences sit low and light on the lush fairways of Tamarisk Country Club; each represents a modern response to design and technology from two different eras.

Harris + Rees Roberts Residence, 2024

This newly completed home by architect Steven Harris and interior designer Lucien Rees Roberts, with landscaping by David Kelly, embodies everything that the architect and designer have absorbed over the past 40 years of creating and building custom residences. The flat lot was contoured to match the golf course and was planted with over 100 palm, citrus, and olive trees.

Sydney + Rachel Charney Residence, 1957

The residence, originally designed by Wexler & Harrison with interiors by Arthur Elrod (no longer extant) and restored to its original condition by Steven Harris and Lucien Rees Roberts, is an angular steel and glass composition sited to take advantage of panoramic golf course and mountain views. The landscaping was originally by Eckbo, Royston and Williams; restored by David Kelly of RRP.
