ABOUT THE EVENT

Join us on Saturday, December 7th from 2:00 to 4:30 PM for the first-ever event at the newly restored Klein Residence. Gene Klein, an entrepreneur who owned the San Diego Chargers as well as a stable of racehorses, commissioned Ted Grenzbach, a celebrated architect to the Hollywood stars, to design the home in the early 80s. Grenzbach – whose client roster included work with Cher, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Shore, Gene Kelly, Herb Alpert, Rock Hudson, Rod Stewart, Barbra Streisand, and Johnny Carson – cast the home in concrete with the signature rounded shapes of the late 70s and early 80s. Recently purchased by architect Doug Moreland, this one-of-a-kind example of postmodernism has undergone a meticulous and thoughtful interior and landscape restoration. Enjoy the dramatic grounds of the residence, framed by stellar views of the Tamarisk Country Club’s lauded golf course and the San Jacinto Mountains. Moreland will be on hand for intimate tours of the interiors at what promises to be a lavish afternoon of food, beverage, and postmodern architecture.

This event serves as a special “meet the director” fundraiser in support of Preservation Mirage Presents Richard Neutra’s Maslon House, the organization’s first foray into filmmaking. The documentary short, produced by Streeterville Productions, chronicles the life of Richard Neutra’s residential masterpiece built in 1962 and razed in 2002. Currently in post-production, the film will mark its world premiere during the 20th Anniversary of Modernism Week at the prestigious Palm Springs Art Museum’s Annenberg Theatre. Director Scott Goldstein will be on hand to speak about the film.

Tickets are $250 each, there are only 50 available on a first-come first-served basis. This event is complimentary for PRESERVATIONIST-level members who will automatically receive a 100% discount on up to two tickets at checkout.
